Maura Werthmann

Our former 2nd story deck may have been up to code in the past, but between age, weather and carpenter bees we needed to replace it.

Nate and his crew replaced the formerly code allowable 4×4 posts with 6×6 posts, joists were maybe double in number, the wooden pickets replaced by rods that almost become invisible when looking out into the backyard.

The flooring is Trex with a decorative edge that frames the floor as well as on the stair treads. We were surprised at how fast the Trex dries after torrential rain and how comfortable it is under a bare foot.

We aren’t novices at carpentry and woodworking, but we were impressed with the crew’s workmanship, precision of the cuts and their eye for detail; not to mention their almost non-stop work during hot, humid days

Nate, the crew, and even the supply delivery people were very professional, personable, respectful and punctual – clearly a well-organized company. Thank you, Nate, and thank you to your carpenters!

Type Of Upgrades And Materials

Recently, the deck-building industry has changed a lot, with composite materials becoming very popular because they save time. Aluminum details are also on the rise, as they make decks last for many years.

With so many materials to choose from, it’s important to do your research before starting any major repairs or renovations for your outdoor space.

Deck Frame

One of the main reasons most decks fail is because of their framing material. While pressure-treated wood has been a popular choice for many years, it has its flaws. Grade 1 pressure-treated lumber can often rot and develop mold or mildew over time, which not only looks bad but also compromises safety.

If you’re looking for quality aluminum or steel frames, Fortress Building Products is your answer. Their products fit any type of decking material and are designed to last. While metal framing may cost more initially than wood, it’s a worthwhile investment as it proves to be more cost-effective over time.

Decking boards are one of the most important aspects of your new deck. They finish the look and set the mood of your new space, so you’ll have to make sure you’re fully content with your decision.

Wood decking is an inexpensive feature that’ll give your deck a natural feel. However, a wood deck will need regular maintenance. You’ll find yourself needing to stain, seal, or repair it quite frequently, which ultimately means more money spent in the long run.

Or just say goodbye to tedious annual deck maintenance and upgrade your outdoor living space with composite materials. Not only will you save money in the long run due to fewer refinishes or repainting, but you can still have a stunning wood-like aesthetic without all of the upkeep!

We work with top brands in the industry, like Trex, TimberTech, Fiberon, and others.

Not only do railings add a finishing touch to your deck, they also provide an extra layer of security and safety that is critical for you and your family. Railings also create a tangible feeling of protection, taking the look of any outdoor space to the next level.

With railings, your decision will be easy. Wood railings are more costly to create, install, and look after. Furthermore, even treated wood will not endure as long as metal.

Although composite railings are of a higher quality than wood, the best ones come at a similar price to Westbury’s aluminum railing. Our clients’ favorite railing option is the St. Louis Steel and Aluminum Railings from Westbury for a good reason: they’re beautiful, long-lasting, easy to install, and will increase your deck’s return on investment!

Certain cities and states require homeowners to install deck lights for safety purposes. Wouldn’t it be outstanding if you could have both beautiful ambiance and the ability to see at night? Here in Louisville, we are passionate about our deck lighting solutions. Low-voltage options offer a win-win; they won’t break the bank but still provide unparalleled quality. Prepare yourself for these stunning benefits!

Labor Costs In Deck Building In Louisville, TN

Leave the job in competent hands – don’t take chances. This craftsmanship requires precision and attention to detail; any missteps could create risks for anyone who steps foot on your structure from this day forward. Instead of rolling the dice, hire experienced professionals with a background in safety features when building decks.

Investing in the services of a qualified builder will save you both time and hassle, as they are adept at completing work faster and more efficiently than those without experience. Hiring an experienced specialist is always worth your money compared to attempting to tackle the project on your own.

Although aesthetics may be considered, safety and functionality should come first when constructing a deck. For this reason, it is recommended that you hire an experienced architect to guarantee all requirements are met for your project. Their rates usually start from $125-$250 per hour.

Deck Designer

If you’re in search of an attractive and secure deck, consulting with a professional designer is your best bet. Not only will their skillful advice grant the most suitable colors, materials, railings, balconies & posts – but this could be finished within three or four hours at an unbeatable hourly rate between $100-$200!

Despite the cost of constructing it, investing in an experienced worker to build your dream deck will give you peace of mind that it was constructed safely and up to all safety regulations.

Deck Builders

Are you in search of top-notch work that won’t sink your pocket? Then it’s advisable to hire professionals with comprehensive experience. For instance, if you’re situated in Louisville, TN, specialized carpenters typically charge between $30 and $35 an hour for custom deck assembly as opposed to the $25 fee charged by those without expertise. You may come across some rookie workers offering the task at an incredibly low cost of just $15 per hour. But remember this old saying: “You get what you pay for.”

If you’re looking to work with a contractor that makes getting your well-deserved deck so much easier, this is it! With Riverview Decks, you’re getting your own architect, deck designer, and builders, all-in-one.

Deck Building Materials Cost

When you first reach us, we’ll want to know what kind of deck you were thinking of. There are two main types of decks, wood decks, and composite decks. Let’s see some differences:

Wood Decks

Pressure-treated pine is growing in popularity as a decking material because it looks nicer than other types of wood and doesn’t cost as much.

However, pressure-treated wood is a soft wood that’s susceptible to rot and pest damage. It requires constant attention and care, so definitely consider that before making your decision.

Let’s see some other types of wood and their cost of installation:

  • Pressure-treated pine deck: $15.00 to $18.00 per square foot installed.
  • Bamboo deck: $19.00 to $22.00 per square foot installed.
  • Cedar deck: $25.00 to $28.00 per square foot installed.
  • Composite deck: $29.00 to $31.00 per square foot installed.
  • Redwood deck: $33.00 to $35.00 per square foot installed.
  • Cumaru deck: $34.00 to $36.00 per square foot installed.
  • Massaranduba deck: $35.00 to $38.00 per square foot installed.
  • Garapa deck: $33.00 to $35.00 per square foot installed.
  • Tigerwood deck: $39.00 to $42.00 per square foot installed.
  • Ipe deck: $47.00 to $49.00 per square foot installed.
  • Teak deck: $49.00 to $51.00 per square foot installed.

Composite Decks

If you’re looking for a durable, cost-efficient decking material that requires minimal upkeep, composite is the way to go. It only needs an occasional pressure washing to stay looking great—no sealants required! TimberTech and Trex are top choices due to their high quality and wide range of colors, styles, and finishes, making it easy to find the perfect match for your home.

For a quick pick-up, visit our store! We offer the best composite decking boards in town at an affordable price of $60-$70 per square foot. While this might seem high, don’t let it deter you from building your dream deck. Our team can also create a custom solution tailored to your needs and budget. If you have any questions, just give us a call or email us. We’re here to help!

Railings Cost

Designing the interior of a home is a very personal experience, much like choosing different styles of window shutters. However, some elements are essential for safety, such as railings on elevated decks. Metal railings have become increasingly popular because of their unmatched durability and strength, ensuring your family’s safety and giving you peace of mind.

We recommend avoiding composite for a few reasons. Composite is typically more expensive than an average metal rail and may degrade over time since it contains wood components.
Wood is the least practical railing option because it requires routine upkeep and treatment. If you don’t take care of it, wood will start to decay and become unsteady–which falls into the category of a dangerous hazard on any deck.

Deck Frame Costs

When building a reliable and lasting deck, make sure to use three essential components: concrete footings, supporting posts, and the frame. Although poured concretes are more costly than other options in the market, they give an attractive finish to your project. H-piers provide one of the most secure foundations for construction, with decks which are worth every penny for stability.

If you’re constructing a luxurious deck, Grade #1 pressure-treated wood for posts won’t suffice – Fortress Building Products’ metal frames are the superior choice. When constructing your deck, the frame is paramount. Pressure-treated wood will guarantee an extended life and robustness for years to come.

However, you can also upgrade with exclusive hardware like brackets, nails and screws for a more stylish aesthetic. Your contractor should explain every option in terms of cost so that you can make the most informed decision. If luxury materials are what you desire, metal framing may be something worth considering!

The final cost of your deck varies depending on a range of factors, including the size and height; materials selected; extra features such as stairs or railings. For example, if you opt for a 12×12 cedar deck with regular construction methods, it should come in at around $15 thousand.
