This Is How A Deck Will Transform Your Backyard
Stay In The Know With Your Deck Project
Besides thinking about how much you’re willing to spend on a deck, it’s important to consider the location of your deck. If your deck faces North, for example, you may have limited hours of sun. If your deck faces East or West, you’ll be getting plenty of sun, so shading structures might be a great addition.
Next, think long-term. Wooden decks cost less but require more maintenance, which means both time and money. Composite decks cost more, but they’re hand-off the minute they’re complete. That’s why considering your material options also plays an important role.
If you’re not sure where to start, give us a call, and we’ll be happy to help with a consultation for your deck building project.
We can build many of our decks as quickly as one day. A standard, 12×12 lumber deck can be done in 3 days as well. However, if you want a large, custom deck, the timeline can extend to up to a week or more.
Yes, the state of Tennessee requires a permit for any work done to your home that implies an exit, such as a deck, a patio, or a stoop. The Riverview Decks team will take care of filing for and getting your permits wherever necessary. City inspectors will check every milestone of the project.
We only build spaces with the quality we would want for our loved ones. If a structure is unsafe and the homeowner is unwilling to invest in proper solutions, we walk out. Safety isn’t an add-on with us. It’s a requirement we build with so we sleep well at night. You’ll have peace of mind hosting cookouts and BBQs for years to come.
While a composite deck may be more expensive up-front, it’s a wise investment in the long run. This is because composite decks are low-maintenance and come with 25-30 years of warranty.
The only maintenance you will need to perform on a composite deck is to pressure wash it every once in awhile. A wooden deck will require periodic staining, as well as replacing warped or cracked boards and stiffening loose handrails.
The price of your deck is influenced by many factors, with size, height, and number of stairs being the most important. Decking surfaces and your choice of materials also matter a lot, as well as handrail options or other features you’d like to add.
Yes! You’ll get an industry-leading lifetime warranty on products and all composite decks.
In addition, our limited-to-lifetime warranty on manufacturer materials ensures that your deck will stay in great condition for as long as you own it.

If you are someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, you’re most probably going to want a sturdy roof over your deck. Once heavy rain and strong sunlight beat down on the wooden boards, you’re going to look out the window and wish you had done it. Roofing solutions keep your deck usable year-round and extend its lifespan with added weather resistance.

Our Warranty Doesn’t Come With an Expiration Date.
It Lasts Forever.
Most contractors attach a time limit to their workmanship warranty: five years, maybe ten , and after that, you’re on your own. At Riverview Decks, we thought, why should reliability have an end date?
That’s why every deck we build comes with a Double Lifetime Workmanship Warranty. As long as you own your home, your deck is covered. And if you decide to sell, the warranty seamlessly transfers to the new homeowner within 30 days, adding lasting value to your investment.
Because when we say we stand behind our work, we mean for the life of your deck and beyond.

A Transparent And Worry-Free Deck Building Process
Our promise of excellence will continue from our first interaction through to the completion of your project. A clear plan and transparent approach ensure that we understand your vision and can execute it exactly as you want it.

How We Build: Our Technical Standards
Every Riverview Decks project follows a documented build process with specific material grades, fastener specs, and structural standards. Here’s a look under the hood.

Footings
We dig every footing below the Tennessee freeze line and anchor it with concrete or steel piers. A city inspector signs off before we build anything on top. That means no settling, cracking, or surprises down the road.

Ledger
The ledger is where your deck meets your home. We bolt ours in with heavy-duty hardware and seal the joint with a waterproof membrane, so water never sneaks behind it.

Framing
We use premium pressure-treated lumber that carries far more weight than a typical deck ever will. You’ll never feel that springy bounce when you walk across it.

Structural Connectors
Every connection point uses engineered metal hardware rated for your specific load. It’s the difference between a deck that passes inspection and one that holds up through decades of Tennessee storms.

Decking Fasteners
We fasten every composite board from underneath with hidden clips, so there are no screw heads on top that loosen over time. The result is a safe and seamless surface.

Railing
Every railing post is bolted through the frame, not just screwed to the surface, so it won’t rock or wobble. If your grandkids can’t squeeze through it, neither can anything else.
Before the final city inspection, every project has to pass our internal pre-completion checklist.

We had a fantastic experience with Nate, Jose and his team! They were efficient and professional. The communication was impeccable.
I was updated every step of the way and always got a timely response when I had a question. They reminded me of a popular chain restaurant that we all know and love with their professionalism and polish. Seriously, they are a step above the rest.
Even the county inspector kept complimenting their craftsmanship. My deck looks amazing! We will be using them for many future projects for sure.

The 5 stars is reflective of the owner and of the business. Nate is a credit to his profession and works to ensure his clients are happy.
We had a horrible deck which was rotting and becoming unusable. He developed a design that we loved and was on point with all of his suggestions.
He was always promptly responsive, which we learned is difficult to find nowadays. It wasn’t always smooth sailing (I guess few jobs ever are), but the end result is excellent and exactly what we wanted.

One-and-Done Solutions
We design every deck for long-term structural performance so you are not rebuilding the same space a few years from now.
- Engineered From the Start
Footings, framing, drainage, and load requirements are planned before materials are installed. - Deck Systems That Last
The structure underneath the decking is built to support modern materials and prevent premature failure. - Covered Porches Built as Structures
Roof loads, tie-ins, and foundations are designed as one complete system. - Concrete Done Right the First Time
Base prep, reinforcement, and drainage planning reduce shifting and cracking.
Risk and Inspection Reality
Before we commit to price or planning, we inspect the existing conditions. Many times, we find…
- Structural Issues Are Common
Rot, water damage, or decay compromise the deck, but they’re only visible during a professional, in-depth inspection.
- Codes Change Over Time
Older decks may not meet the current building codes here in Knoxville, and they wouldn’t pass an inspection anymore.
- Subpar Craftsmanship
During inspections we usually find missing nails, improper material installation, or poor quality hardware.
How We Protect You From Surprises
Pre-construction Inspection
We evaluate structural conditions, attachment points, soil, and drainage before finalizing scope and pricing.
Clear Scope Documentation
Your proposal outlines what is included, what is excluded, and the assumptions used to build your estimate.
Written Change Process
If conditions require adjustments, we document what was changed, why it changed, and the cost before any additional work begins.
