Louisville sits along the Tennessee River in Blount County, and the homes here reflect that setting. Larger lots, mature trees, proximity to the water, and a quieter pace than the suburbs further north. A lot of these properties have decks that have been out there for fifteen or twenty years, and that age shows in ways that go beyond cosmetic. Soft spots in the boards, posts that have shifted, ledger connections that haven’t been looked at since the original build.

When a deck reaches that point, patching individual components stops making financial sense. Riverview Decks handles full deck replacements for Louisville homeowners, and we’ve been doing this work in Blount County for over 21 years.

When Replacement Makes More Sense Than Repair

Repair is the right call for isolated problems. A few rotted boards, a damaged post, a railing section that needs attention. But at a certain stage, the math shifts.

Signs a deck is past the point of targeted repair:

If the frame is structurally sound and the problems are surface-level, repair is worth considering. If the frame is compromised, you’re pouring money into a foundation that won’t hold.

What a Full Deck Replacement Includes

A replacement isn’t just new boards on old bones. When we replace a deck, we assess every component before anything comes off the house.

What Our Customers Say

K

Kim DiBenedetto

Rated 5 out of 5

Nate and his team were professional and efficient. We were in constant communication.

I have 3 dogs that the workers were mindful of by keeping the gate closed and not leaving any nails or screws as a hazard. JC and/or Nate were here everyday to ensure quality and perfection.

There is no one else I would recommend for your deck both new or repairs. I only wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Rated 5 out of 5

The 5 stars is reflective of the owner and of the business. Nate is a credit to his profession and works to ensure his clients are happy.

We had a horrible deck which was rotting and becoming unusable. He developed a design that we loved and was on point with all of his suggestions.

He was always promptly responsive, which we learned is difficult to find nowadays. It wasn’t always smooth sailing (I guess few jobs ever are), but the end result is excellent and exactly what we wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

The frame tells the story. Surface boards can be replaced individually, but if the frame, ledger, or posts are compromised, you’re generally better off starting fresh. We’ll give you a straight answer during the consultation.
In most cases, yes. Blount County requires permits for deck construction and replacement on elevated structures. Decks under 30 inches in height may be exempt, but anything attached to the house or above that height threshold goes through the permit process. We handle all of it through Blount County Development Services.
Most standard replacements run two to three weeks from start to finish. Larger decks or those requiring footing replacement can take longer. You’ll have a realistic timeline in writing before we start.
Yes. We can replace the deck with the same size and layout, or adjust the design if you want to change the shape, add square footage, or update features. That’s your call.
It’s more common than people think. We can build the replacement correctly and permit it through Blount County. That closes out the compliance gap and protects you when it comes time to sell.
Yes. Properties along the Tennessee River and Fort Loudoun Lake may have additional requirements through TVA under Section 26a, separate from Blount County permitting. We’ll identify what applies to your specific property during the consultation.
