Clinton is a town that’s been growing steadily, and the housing stock reflects that. You’ve got older ranch homes and brick colonials in established neighborhoods like Westwood Estates and Mariner Point, sitting alongside newer construction coming up near Aspire Park and out toward Norris Lake. Across all of it, there’s one thing in common: a lot of decks that are overdue for replacement.
Wood decks built fifteen or twenty years ago weren’t designed to last forever, and East Tennessee’s summers, winters, and humidity accelerate the timeline. When a deck reaches the end of that life, Riverview Decks handles the replacement from demo to final inspection. We’ve been doing this work in Anderson County for over 21 years, and we back every build with the only double lifetime warranty in Tennessee.

How to Know When Repair Stops Making Sense
Some deck problems are isolated and repairable. A section of rotted boards, a loose post, a railing that’s shifted. But there’s a point where the underlying structure is compromised, and piecemeal repairs are just delaying the inevitable.
Replacement is usually the right call when:
- The frame and joists show rot or insect damage in multiple locations, not a single spot
- Posts have shifted or sunk at the base, causing lean or unevenness across the deck surface
- The ledger connection to the house is compromised, which puts the whole structure at risk
- The deck wasn't originally permitted and would fail a current inspection, a real issue when selling
- The layout no longer works for how you use the space and resizing makes a full rebuild more practical than repair
What Our Replacement Process Covers
Take a glimpse at our gallery to see the deck replacement projects we’ve accomplished, underscoring our commitment to superior craftsmanship and innovative design:
- Demo and haul away. We tear out the existing structure and remove all debris. You don't manage disposal.
- Footing and post assessment. Before we frame anything, we check the existing footings. Clinton's terrain varies, from level lots in subdivisions close to downtown to sloped properties out toward Norris Lake and the Clinch River corridor, and footing depth and drainage requirements shift with the site. We either build on sound existing footings or replace them before framing starts.
- New framing to the current code. Every replacement gets a new frame. We use corrosion-resistant hardware throughout, joist hangers, post bases, and ledger fasteners rated for treated lumber contact, and we build in ventilation so moisture moves through the substructure rather than collecting in it.
- Decking surface. We work in both composite and pressure-treated wood. Composite is the stronger long-term material for Clinton's humidity and UV exposure, and for properties near the water around Norris Lake or Melton Hill Lake, it's almost always the better choice. We're a Deckorators Pro dealer and will help you work through the options.
- Railings. Every elevated replacement includes code-compliant railings. We offer wood, aluminum, and cable railing depending on your preference and budget.
- Anderson County permits. Deck replacement in Clinton falls under Anderson County Planning and Development. We handle the application, drawings, inspections, and permit close-out. You don't touch the paperwork.

Deck Replacement Cost Estimates in Clinton, TN
| Deck Size | Material | Estimated Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 10' x 12' | Pressure-Treated Wood | $2,000 – $3,000 |
| 10' x 12' | Composite | $3,500 – $4,500 |
| 16' x 20' | Pressure-Treated Wood | $5,000 – $7,500 |
| 16' x 20' | Composite | $8,000 – $12,000 |
These figures reflect standard builds on accessible sites. Final pricing depends on footing conditions, site-specific factors, material selections, and any design changes from the original footprint. We provide written quotes after seeing the property, not before.
What moves the number:
- Footing condition. Reusable footings reduce cost. Footings that need replacement add to it. We can't know which applies until we look at the site.
- Terrain. Sloped lots, elevated builds, and limited equipment access affect labor. Properties near Norris Lake or with significant grade changes sometimes require additional structural planning.
- Material choice. Composite carries a higher upfront cost but lower long-term maintenance. Treated wood is less expensive to start and a reasonable choice if you're committed to regular sealing and staining. We'll help you run the math on both.
- Scope changes. Replacing at the same footprint is the most straightforward path. Adding square footage, changing the layout, or incorporating features like pergolas or built-in seating are scoped separately.
- Financing is available. Ask about current terms when you call.

What Our Customers Say
K
Kim DiBenedetto
Nate and his team were professional and efficient. We were in constant communication.
I have 3 dogs that the workers were mindful of by keeping the gate closed and not leaving any nails or screws as a hazard. JC and/or Nate were here everyday to ensure quality and perfection.
There is no one else I would recommend for your deck both new or repairs. I only wish I could give more than 5 stars!
J
Jason Eskew
The 5 stars is reflective of the owner and of the business. Nate is a credit to his profession and works to ensure his clients are happy.
We had a horrible deck which was rotting and becoming unusable. He developed a design that we loved and was on point with all of his suggestions.
He was always promptly responsive, which we learned is difficult to find nowadays. It wasn’t always smooth sailing (I guess few jobs ever are), but the end result is excellent and exactly what we wanted.
