Part One: The Deck Inspection
Micah and Elizabeth started looking into a deck replacement when their existing space didn’t make them feel like it did before.
They called Riverview Decks after hearing about us on Facebook and Google, and after reading through our reviews, decided to request a consultation.
We showed up, did a thorough inspection to check for rot and decay, and then showed them the results.
Not up to code
The old deck was not up to code. It was decreasing our clients’ home value not just appeal.

The stairs going up the second deck were not up to code, unsafe, and crooked.

The floorboards and railing were damaged and decaying, with paint peeling off.

Part Two: The Design, Planning, Permitting
Our clients wanted to remove the second freestanding deck, but also the extension of the screened-in deck. At the same time, they wanted a spacious outdoor space, but not the maintenance that comes with it. The next obvious solution? A concrete patio.
Part Three: Ready For Construction
After we got the required permits, we got to work.
We tear down the screened-in deck, its extension, and the freestanding deck on the little hill in the backyard.
We had a company haul out all the debris so the yard remain clean and organized.
When we had all the materials on site, we got to work.
30th June
2-5 July
We installed the footers, stairs and framing and had everything inspected by the city.
5-8 July
We installed the decking surface and the railing, and then had a final walkthrough with our clients.

Deckorators Composite - Venture Series Sandbar
We installed 120 sq. ft. of composite decking, perfect for our clients to enjoy a low-maintenance deck. It’s durable, resistant to water or UV damage, and you can walk on barefoot because it stays cold and splinter-free.
Westbury Aluminum Railing
We installed all straight and stair aluminum railing up to the highest standards in the industry. There were 40 linear feet of straight railing and 4 linear feet of stairs railing, all in Westbury C-10 metal railing with lifetime warranty.
KDHT Lumber Framing
We had to use 192 sq. ft. of framing material. For both ledger board and framing, we used 2’x10′ lumber 12″ on-center. This is the most cost-efficient framing material, and our go-to for all deck building projects.
